ヒラリー・クリントン氏の　Concession Speech　を聴いて

昨日の大統領選の結果はショックでした。
女性活躍を推進する私としては、
高い高いガラスの天井がついに破られる歴史的瞬間が、
遠のき、次のチャンスはいつになるのかわからないという状態だからです。
しかし、選挙後、ヒラリー氏の「敗北宣言」は、異国の私にも非常に
力を与えてくれるスピーチでした。
まず、会見に入る姿勢、凛として笑顔。
服装も、赤の共和党、青の民主党、それぞれのカラーを合わせた
「紫×黒」のカラーをまとって「分断」ではなく「調和」を強く訴えていました。

ニュースなどでも強調されていましたが、スピーチの最後は、
若者や女性に向けてのメッセージが力強く語られていましたね。
自分が負けたことによって、「ヒラリー氏でもダメならやっぱり女性には無理だ」とは
決して思って欲しくない、次につなげたいという意思を非常に強く感じました。
I’ve had successes and setbacks and sometimes painful ones. Many of you are at the beginning of your professional, public, and political careers — you will have successes and setbacks too.
This loss hurts, but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.
It is, it is worth it.
ヒラリー氏の言う「痛み」とは、一体どんなものだったであろうか。
誰も切り拓いていない道を行くのは困難であることは想像に難くない。
舗装された道を歩くものが、そのことに敬意を払わず批判だけするのは美しくないと強く思う。
今回、敗北をしても尚、「自分が正しいと思う信念のために闘うことには意味がある。」
「意味があるのよ！」と力強く語るメッセージに私自身も鼓舞される思いです。
And so we need — we need you to keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives. And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me: I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion．
Now, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will — and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.
And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.
もっとも、高く、もっとも硬い　ガラスの天井。
いつか破られる日は必ず来るのであるが、このバトン、次世代の女性たちは果たしてキャッチできたであろうか。

日本でも未だ存在する様々なガラスの天井を打ち破っていく活動を私も地道に続けていくことで
バトンの受け渡しの一助を担いたいと思った次第です。

少女たちに、若い女性たちに
「自分には価値があること」
「パワーがあること」
「世界中に夢を追い求め、実現させるチャンスを得ている存在であること」
・・・を（知ってほしい。理解してほしい）
そして、それを決して「疑わないで…」という、この気持ち。心。
読んでいて本当に泣けてきました。
And I still believe as deeply as I ever have that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strength in our convictions and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us.
ここもダイバーシティ的なメッセージで
強い信念と国を愛する力を持ち、違いを尊重し共に行動することが
未来につながるとイメージさせてくれました。
Because, you know — you know, I believe we are stronger together and we will go forward together. And you should never, ever regret fighting for that. You know, scripture tells us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
So my friends, let us have faith in each other, let us not grow weary, let us not lose heart, for there are more seasons to come. And there is more work to do.
I am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election.
